Events Manager

 Non-Tutor Roles: Volunteer Events Manager

Volunteer Role Description

About Foster the Future

Foster the Future is a charity built for young people, by young people. In Australia 75% of children in foster care don't finish high school, 33% will end up homeless before turning 21, and we are working to change that. Foster the Future provides free, weekly, one-on-one tutoring and educational support to help disengaged students get back on track. As a member of our events and wider marketing team you will have the opportunity to own and build our event strategy, work with external and internal teams, and be creative to achieve our mission.

About the role

Our event managers help to make our goals a reality. You will be involved in creating fundraisers, tutor meet ups, and think outside the box to meet our goals as an organisation. We are a lean charity and this is the perfect opportunity for you to own your initiatives, learn new skills, and develop your leadership capabilities. Our members are a remote group of volunteers all working on one mission as one team. Our volunteer roles are very flexible, and we are a results-driven organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other members of the wider Foster the Future team to deliver Foster the Future’s mission of providing educational access to disadvantaged youth

  • Assist in the development of short and long term plans and schedules to execute on our marketing and financial goals

  • Help to drive recruitment of students and tutors

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute on our plans for the year

Who You Are:

  • You are a leader and have a desire to take ownership of your part of the organisation

  • You are passionate about helping some of the most disadvantaged members of our society

  • You are a team player who wants to give back to your community

  • You have strong project management skills and attention to detail

  • You have good relationship management skills, as you will be expected to engage with stakeholders across different functions

  • You have strong written and visual communication skills
