3/4 day
Up to 75% of kids living in out-of-home care will fail to finish high school*, and 1 in 3 will be homeless by 21**. Education serves as an important pillar in improving outcomes for at-risk youth, and offers a world of new perspectives from which to build a better future for kids in care.
What is Foster the Future?
Foster the Future is a youth-led charity that provides personalised one-on-one tutoring support for free to kids in care, with the aim of empowering them to envision and enact a better future than these statistics predict for them.
A recent survey of carers and caseworkers involved with Foster the Future showed that 85% of students enrolled in Foster the Future’s tutoring program are currently on track to finish high school, compared to just 25% of their peers.
What is 3 in 4 Day?
3 in 4 Day is a community event that aims to raise funds and awareness to provide life-changing support and improved educational outcomes for youth in out-of-home care.
Every dollar raised for Foster the Future will contribute directly to the provision of free one-on-one tutoring to at-risk kids. The FTF tutoring program consists of weekly support sessions tailored to individual needs, wherein students get help with homework, work through the challenges of school and develop the confidence to reach their full potential. In doing so, Foster the Future equips children to seek knowledge, challenge themselves, and overcome barriers to opportunity, toward a better future.
How can I get involved?
Get involved on Friday, March 4th 2022 by registering your workplace, school or organisation to stop work at 3pm in acknowledgement of the 3 in 4 kids in care that won’t finish high school. You might choose to:
host an afternoon tea
hold a team-building activity or
take the afternoon off to raise funds and spread awareness on social media.
Whatever your plans, register your interest in holding an event below so a member of our team can get in touch to answer any questions, as well as provide promotional materials to support your fundraising efforts.
Don’t forget to spread the word by sharing your event on social media with #FTF3in4Day and @FostertheFutureAU
