About Foster the Future

Foster the Future is a charity built for young people, by young people. In Australia 75% of children in foster care don't finish high school, 33% will end up homeless before turning 21, and we are working to change that. Foster the Future provides free, weekly, one-on-one tutoring and educational support to help disengaged students get back on track. As a member of our finance team you will have the opportunity to help develop finance strategy, work with external and internal teams, and be creative to achieve our mission.

About the role

Our finance managers help to keep Foster the Future going. You will be involved in applying for grants, creating pitch decks, developing fundraising activities, and producing and maintaining financial statements. We are a lean charity and this is the perfect opportunity for you to own your initiatives, learn new skills, and develop your leadership capabilities. Our members are a remote group of volunteers all working on one mission as one team. Our volunteer roles are very flexible, and we are a results-driven organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with other members of the finance team as well as operations and marketing teams to deliver Foster the Future’s mission of providing educational access to disadvantaged youth

• Complete grant writing for corporate and government giving programs

• Creating pitch decks for corporate partnerships 

• Developing and managing fundraising initiatives

• Assist in developing financial forecasts and budgets

• Working in collaboration with our other teams to develop and run fun fundraising initiatives.

• Producing and maintaining financial statements and reports

Who You Are:

• You are a leader and have a desire to take ownership of your part of the organisation

• You have strong writing ability, organisation skills and attention to detail

• You have knowledge of financial processes and/ or fundraising experience or are willing to learn

• You have strong communication skills and feel comfortable presenting

• You have a passion for making a difference
