About Foster the Future
Foster the Future is a charity built for young people, by young people. In Australia 75% of children in foster care don't finish high school, 33% will end up homeless before turning 21, and we are working to change that. Foster the Future provides free, weekly, one-on-one tutoring and educational support to help disengaged students get back on track. As a member of our operations team you will have the opportunity to help work directly with our volunteer tutors, carers and caseworkers to help boost our student success!
About the role
The volunteer operations coordinator role at Foster the Future does what matters most - helps our tutors and students succeed. You will be involved in recruiting and interviewing new tutors, and making sure our tutoring arrangements run smoothly. We are a lean charity and this is the perfect opportunity for you to own your initiatives, learn new skills, and develop your leadership and management capabilities. The rest of the team is a remote group of volunteers all working on one mission as one team. Our roles are very flexible, and we are a results-driven organisation. The estimated volunteer time per week is a couple of hours, and this seriously reduces as the semester ramps up - perfect for a uni student!
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with other members of the operations team and senior leadership as well as our marketing team to deliver Foster the Future’s mission of providing educational access to disadvantaged youth
Interview, train and support new volunteer tutors
